FCTA bounces on land grabbers, begins demolition of illegal structures in Sabon Lugbe

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, on Thursday bounced on land grabbers, as demolition of illegal structures commence in Sabon Lugbe community.

Director , Department of Development, FCT, Administration, Tpl, Mukhar Galadima said that the administration had warned land grabbers ahead of the commencement of the demolition exercise.

Galadima said, “We are here today at Sabon Lugbe Southwest area, which is part of the phase five district of the Federal Capital City, FCC, and recall that sometimes back we warned that we are going to bounce on land grabbers. So this is in continuation of the enforcement exercise, which had started.”

“We started today with just about 10 structures, but tomorrow we are coming back in full swing”, Galadima warned.

The FCT Administration has also warned the public to stop buying land from land grabbers who do not have any authorization to do so.

“We want to inform the public that for any person to buy any property in Abuja, please ensure that it is rightly titled property with an approved development plan, but failing to do so, you could fall into the hands of these land grabbers, and please don’t blame the FCTA.”

According to the Director, Department of Development, all 50 structures, (duplexes and bungalows) will be brought down.

Galadima also warned the administration shall not entertain illegal developments, adding, some individuals are deceiving those who purchase land from land grabber that they will be integrated into the phase 5 of the FCC. They should be warned.

There is nothing like integration. Illegality is illegality, and we will continue to be removing them, he emphasized.

Speaking on the design and upgrading of the new phase 5 of the FCC into the Abuja Master plan, It will be ready for use. I think the FCT Urban and Regional Planning is working hard on that, he explained.
