FCTA to grant scholarships to children of indigent families willing to further their education

The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu has disclosed the readiness to assist children of indigent and vulnerable families who are ready to go to school with scholarships in secondary and tertiary institutions through the FCTA Social Welfare Tuition Scholarship Scheme.

According to the Head, Media and PR FCT- DDS, Shaka Sunday in a release made available to newsmen said that the scheme which is being promoted through the Social Welfare Department of the Social Development Secretariat, is aimed at ensuring that residents willing to further and advance their studies and educational careers are able to do so assuring them that lack of resources would not be a hindrance to achieving such lofty dreams.

So far the Administration said it has engaged the services of over 50 Lecturers from the University of Nigeria, Abuja Alumni Chapter to take the various classes accordingly.

Modalities employed to achieve above objectives include the following , cushioning & mitigating the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on parents through free enrollment, tuition fees payment and organizing free Lectures for both the NECO, WAEC, NABTEB and IJMB candidates.

Also for IJMB students, the FCT Administration said it is waiving off a huge sum of N250k from the Tuition fees that’s about N300k across other centres where IJMB is being conducted.
So all IJMB students are expected to pay just N60,000 fees for both the (internal & External) Exams as against the over N300k obtained elsewhere.

Lectures for all the above mentioned Exams commences on the 1st of August, 2022 and is to hold every Saturday & Sunday at designated centers across the Six Area Councils with AMAC having three centres in Lugbe, Karu and JABI.

The Administration has advised all interested candidates to visit the Social Welfare Department of the Social Development Secretariat located at the Arts & Culture Building, by Old Post Office, Area 10 Garki Abuja,to pick up their forms according to the category of their choice or eligibility.

Purchase of forms for WAEC, NECO, NAPTEB holders intending to go for Tailoring, Cosmetologists, Catering & ICT-Coding fee is N5,000 while for IJMB is N7,000.

Deadline for the purchase of Forms in Each Category End by 6pm on Saturday 16th July, 2022, the release stated.
