FERMA Wasting Funds On Kano-Daura Road Repairs – Motorists

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano.

Motorists and other road users en-route Kano-Daura road disclosed that the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, popularly known as “FERMA” are just wasting huge amount of money without expected repairs at Kano-Daura-Kongolom road despite that the road is in urgent need of good repairs.

Speaking to our correspondent who monitored the situation at the road from Kano to Daura, Malam Musa Ahmed, a commercial bus driver working on the highway stated that ” we are not happy about what is happening at Kano-Daura road because being a highway, it is important for those assigned to repair the road to ensure quality job not patch-patch like what we is being done every time without success”. He lamented.

He added that the federal ministry of Works and Transport should monitor the repairs and do the needful in order to ensure that Kano-Daura road is dualized, fully repaired and wear a new look, because the road is not in good stage and becoming an accidental route almost every day, where he called on the authorities concerned to ensure that all is well on the road.

Similarly, Malam Ahmad Aliyu Dara Stated that the federal government should direct the total dualization of the road in order to reduce accidents because the road being one lane, the dualization would be better due to cover the potholes and other obstacles to moving vehicles as a highway.

Our correspondent reported that Thomas Dam is also one of the area that needs metal walks at both side not Cement-made embankments which is becoming another death trap to motorists because the earlier installed strong metal walls are now being replaced by walls made with cement which cannot protects any vehicle from falling into the Dam where many lives were lost as a result of falling vehicles into the river without strong metal walls.
