Federal Government through the Ministry of Interior, has elevated Four (4), Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, to their new ranks of Deputy Controller Generals, DCGs.
The newly appointed NCoS Officers include; DCG Kalu Francis Uluata, DCG Kupan Amos Ph.D, DCG Fatinikun Opeyemi and DCG Adagiri Ahmed Ismaila who were decorated to their new ranks respectively.
Speaking yesterday during the decoration ceremony held at the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Headquarters in Abuja the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated that the era of career stagnation was over as the present administration recognizes diligence, merit, dedication to duty and professionalism.
Tunji-Ojo charged the newly appointed Officers on professionalism, diligence and dedication to duty saying, “To the new DCGs, Nigeria deserves your best, you have a call to duty to protect Nigerians with all you have. The higher you go, the more discipline and integrity is expected from you, do not show inordinate ambitions. Let your contributions to your various Services show your competence.”
He encouraged that Federal Government believed in the welfare of Officers hence, it has approved Salaries for Life for Controller Generals, Comptroller Generals, Commandant Generals and DCGs of the Services under the Ministry of Interior, therefore, to whom must is given more is expected.
“Paramilitary has come to be pacesetters, we will continue to be innovative and work towards global standards, we will continue to lead the way in contributing our quota towards the development of the country.
“For NIS, we will show that we can man our borders, for the NCoS, our Correctional centres will no longer be a place of incarceration but a place for transformation, rehabilitation and restoration of hope.
“For the FFS, we will be known as first responders to cases and for safety of lives and properties while the NSCDC, will be the lead agency for the protection of critical infrastructure and national assets and this will contribute to the growth of the economy and development of the country,” he stated.
He urged them to cooperate with the Heads of their various Services stressing, “Give your best to Nigeria, show loyalty to the country, let the love of country extinguish any flame of disloyalty.”
The Minister, congratulated the new appointees, advising them not to disappoint the trust bestowed on them also urging Officers to be professionals and operate in accordance with global standards.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, urged the newly appointed DCGs to be committed to work for optimisation and effective service delivery.
Also, in a Vote of Thanks, the newly appointed Officers, thanked the Government for recognizing them as worthy of the appointment also pledging to give their best through hardwork and dedication to service in their various offices.
