FG picks Abdulkarim Obaje as new COVID- 19 Action Recovery National Coordinator

The Federal government of has approved the appointment of Dr Abdulkarim Ali Obaje, as the National Coordinator for Federal CARES Support Unit, Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES).

In a press release made available to Daybreak today from the office of the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning Obaje’s new appointment has been endorsed by the World Bank.

The NG- CARES programme is would be implemented in the 36 States of the federation and the FCT.
Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba who signed Obaje’s letter noted that his new appointment is based on his track record of service to previous World Bank supported programmes of the Nigerian government.

Congratulating Obaje, the minister who is also the Chairman of the NG-CARES Steering Committee urged the appointee to bring to bear his wealth of experience into his office, adding that it would justify the confidence reposed in him by the Federal government.

The new NG- CARES National Coordinator appreciated the Federal Government and the Minister of State for the confidence reposed on him for the national assignment and pledged that his team would discharge it’s mandate with commitment, patriotism and loyalty.

The release stated that Obaje brings on board over twenty years of work experience in the public service and development partners. Currently he is the National Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP).

The NG-CARES is an initiative of the Federal government of Nigeria with assistance from the World Bank to mitigate the effect of COVID- 19 on the rural economy using CSDP, Fadama and Bank of Industry platforms.

Obaje’s appointment takes effect from date of effectiveness of the NG- CARES programme.
