Flood Destroys Over 80 Houses in Langtang South LGA of Plateau

By Isreal Adamu, Jos

About 80 households have been displaced by flooding in several communities of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State following heavy rainfall from Friday through Sunday.

Sources from the community told our correspondent on Sunday that the incident has thrown residents into confusion and panic, as many affected individuals are now stranded and in search of refuge.

Mr. Nandul Solomon, a resident of Angwan Bwarat in the Sabon Gida community of Langtang South, stated, “The flood didn’t claim any lives, but due to its magnitude, it displaced over 80 households. The displaced persons are currently staying with neighbors, friends, or relatives.”

Mr. Yintim Yohanna Nimilam, the Community Development Secretary of Sabon Gida, expressed his concern about the unfortunate situation. He mentioned that many individuals are displaced and relying on relatives for shelter.

“We appeal to the government and relevant authorities to come to our rescue,” he added.
