Fortification of Security Architecture Pave Ways for Academic Excellence in Kogi Poly – Prof. Ogbo

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman on Tuesday in Lokoja revealed his commitment in tackling insecurity and introduction of quality assurance scheme in the last four years of his first tenure.

Prof. Usman who disclosed this while briefing Journalists on the journey so far to mark the end of his first tenure in office Said the policy also boosted academic excellence in the institution.

Professor Ogbo at the stock taking and accountability interaction with newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday, said that he was able to address the lingering problems of insecurity, cultism and examination misconduct in the last four years.

“We set machinery in motion for tackling insecurity through fortification of security architecture via effective intelligence gathering on the activities of cultists and other deviant groups

The Rector attributed the achievements to the Construction of a befitting security building, installation of CCTV camera on the campus to monitor unholy activities, provision of communication gadgets and provision of security patrol vehicles for surveillance.

Other security architectures are the provision of solar lights and other illuminating gadgets, continuous clearing of buses, dislodgement of notorious pipeline which was hitherto the meeting point of cultists and replacement of same with barricades, recruitment of more security personnel and synergy with security agencies to prevent crimes respectively.

“Within the period under review, we also introduced several measures aimed at strengthening the culture of academic excellence in the institution”

“The Polytechnic has bolstered the authenticity and integrity of its academic credentials by introducing a new and enhanced statement of result template. This upgraded template incorporates advanced security features designed to prevent falsification, ensuring that the statements of result issued to students are tamper-proof and genuine

“We as well introduced E- exammination/Result Computation/E-Payment, setting up of Central Examination Misconduct Committee, Strengthening Regulation against indiscriminate production and sales of textbooks on the campus and introduction of the academic board central results verification committee.

“We recorded 100% accreditation of 48 programmes and institutional accreditation since I came on board. Also priority attention was given to staff and students welfare as well as infrastructural development”

The Rector who appreciated his re-appointment for a second term by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, affirmed that the gesture would spur him to sustain his developmental tempo in the institution and even strive to surpass his previous achievements.
