**FRSC Aims for 5% Reduction in Road Crashes during Ember Months, Says Corps Marshal**

By Daniel Edu

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Dauda Biu, has announced the commission’s target of reducing Road Traffic Crashes, fatalities, and injuries by 5% during the 2023 Ember Months. He made this declaration during the decoration ceremony of the newly promoted Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM), Mr. Bisi Kazeem, held in Abuja.

Mr. Bisi Kazeem, who previously served as the Spokesman of the FRSC, was promoted to the position of Deputy Corps Marshal.

Corps Marshal Biu revealed that a nationwide Ember Months Special patrol operation would soon be initiated to enhance the safety of motorists and ensure smoother traffic flow. The operation aims to prevent motorists from spending nights on highways during the yuletide season.

“Our goal has always been to reduce road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries. This year, we have set a target of a 5% reduction, and I believe we will achieve it,” said Biu. He also highlighted the deployment of more vehicles, equipment, and the introduction of body cameras for FRSC personnel to enhance their effectiveness.

Biu assured Nigerians of safer roads, emphasizing that FRSC personnel would be deployed to save lives and provide assistance in the event of any accidents on the highways. He also advised the newly promoted DCM, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, to redouble his efforts, reminding him that promotion came with increased responsibility.

In response, Mr. Kazeem expressed his gratitude and pledged to work harder to fulfill the FRSC’s mission of eradicating road crashes and creating a safer motoring environment. He acknowledged the honor bestowed upon him and committed himself to the task, understanding that the recognition entailed greater dedication and hard work.
