The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that Faisal Makarfi, the son of former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, died in a fatal auto-crash along the Kaduna-Kano highway. The crash happened on Saturday at Lambar Zango, along the Zaria-Kaduna road, around 6:15 PM.
Kabir Nadabo, the FRSC Sector Commander in Kaduna State, about the incident on Sunday. He explained that the crash involved a KIA vehicle traveling from Zaria to Kaduna. The car lost control after its front right tyre detached, and despite attempts by the driver to regain control, the vehicle somersaulted multiple times.
Rescuers declared Faisal Makarfi dead at the scene. The crash also left two other passengers critically injured and unconscious. Medical personnel rushed them to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.
Nadabo emphasized the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, especially tyre checks, to prevent accidents like this in the future.
Faisal Makarfi’s untimely death has caused widespread grief, especially since Senator Makarfi remains a prominent figure in Nigerian politics as a former governor and former national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
This tragic accident highlights the persistent dangers on Nigerian roads and the need for stricter road safety measures.
The FRSC continues to investigate the cause of the accident and gather more information on the incident.
