Wike gave the ultimatum on Wednesday when reacting to reports by FCDA officials during a meeting with stakeholders from Gishiri, as he promised to assess the area.
Speaking on refusal by residents to collect compensation money, the minister instructed the residents to collect their compensation money first before the land.
” Wike said, “If you don’t take the money, I will not give you people the land again. Go and collect the money. So as you take the land, you start developing.”
” So don’t give me the condition that you have to be given the land first, now that I’ve come out to say let them come and give you your land and also your money, he said.
Recall that the minister had increased the initial compensation budget of N655m was increased to N1.3bn due to the economic situation in the country.
