Hajiya Maryam ‘Yar Nene, the beloved aunty of Sokoto State Governor Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has passed away. She died on Friday at her residence following a prolonged illness.
Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the APC leader in Sokoto State, extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Ahmed Aliyu and his family over their loss. He described the late Hajiya Maryam as a disciplinarian and a devout woman who dedicated her life to serving humanity.
“I pray to Almighty Allah to forgive her, accept her good deeds, and overlook her shortcomings,” Wamakko said, urging the bereaved family to accept the loss as Allah’s will.
A condolence visit led by the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, included his Deputy, Kabiru Ibrahim Kware, and other members of the legislature. Also in attendance were commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, civil servants, religious leaders, politicians, and businesspeople.
Hajiya Maryam, who is survived by many children and great-grandchildren, was laid to rest according to Islamic rites. Prayers were offered for the repose of her soul.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, expressed gratitude to those who joined in mourning and paid respects to the late Hajiya Maryam.
