Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has sought collaboration with the South Korean Government to develop key sectors such as education, agriculture , technology and infrastructure.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, says the meeting to that effect took place at the Korean Embassy, Abuja where the Governor held strategic diplomatic discussions with the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Vice Admiral rtd, KIM Pankyu, towards developing the key sectors.
According to the statement, the Governor also sought for support for the establishment of a specialized bank , aimed at driving agricultural and technological development in Benue State for faster development.
The Governor stressed the need for collaboration in the area of renewable energy, agriculture mechanization and Information Communication Technology, ICT.
He sought for ways to enhance quality education for the Benue child, through the Smart School Initiative, emphasizing the need for training programs for Benue’s workforce towards effective service delivery.
Responding, the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, KIM Pankyu, expressed happiness over the prospects of the collaboration with Benue State, acknowledging the significance of the state as a sub-national entity in Nigeria.
He said the potential areas of collaboration as highlighted by the Governor of Benue State, aligned with the the Korean Government’s planned support to Nigeria.
