Gov. Diri To Kick Start Prosperity Cup Season 6 in Yenagoa

The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri on Friday 17th of May, 2024 will officially launch the season 6 of the famous Bayelsa State Governor’s Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup at the Samson Siasia Sports complex in Yenagoa.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director General of the tournament, Mr.Ono Akpe and obtained by Our Correspondent in Yenagoa.

The Statement noted that, the sixth edition of the tournament will be graced by the State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjadkpo as guest of honour, while Rt. Hon. Abraham Ngobere, Speaker Bayelsa State House of Assembly will serve as special guest of honour.

Other dignitaries who will grace the event includes the member representing Ekeremor Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and Chairman Committee on Sports, Hon Tare Porri.

Others include, His Royal Majesty, King Bubaraye Dakolo, AGADA IV, Chairman Bayelsa State traditional Rulers Council as Royal Father of the Day.

The opening game will feature Champions KRUSADERS FC Vs POLICE MACHINE FC where hundreds of thousands of sports enthusiastics around the African continent will watch the most embraced grassroot tournament live.

The Prosperity Cup is a prominent grassroots football tournament held in Bayelsa State, Nigeria annually. It serves as a platform for local football talents to showcase their skills and compete at various levels. The tournament features both male and female categories, as well as a Para-Soccer edition, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement.

Our Correspondent report that the tournament since inception has gained significant recognition both locally and internationally, with players from Bayelsa State excelling not only within Nigeria but also on the global stage.
