By Isreal Adamu, Jos

The Plateau State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the rights, welfare, education, and safety of children under the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Caroline Dafur, during an event marking the 2024 World Children’s Day celebration. The event featured an interactive session with children from selected schools and was supported by UNICEF and Highland FM Jos.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr. Alex Anlong, Hon. Dafur emphasized the administration’s dedication to protecting children’s rights and ensuring that all children of school age have access to quality basic education.

“Children are an essential part of our society. Without them, there will not be a transition to a greater tomorrow. They mirror the outlook of our future and the tomorrow we want to bequeath to them,” she noted.

She urged parents to take advantage of educational opportunities by enrolling their children in school, stressing the importance of education as a foundation for progress.

“We are committed to ensuring that children’s rights, which are fundamental to Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration, are protected. The administration has made it a point of duty to invest in the education, welfare, safety, and rights of our children,” she added.

The event further underscored the state government’s resolve to build a brighter future for children, aligning with the global theme of World Children’s Day to advocate for the well-being and development of young people.
