Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accelerating infrastructural development across the state, with a specific pledge for immediate intervention on the Takete-Ide–Amuro–Ayede Amuro Road in Mopamuro Local Government Area.
The governor made this assurance on Saturday during the 2025 Takete-Ide Day Celebration, where he commended the people of Takete-Ide for their unity, cultural pride, and self-help development initiatives.
Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Oyibo, Governor Ododo lauded the community for producing outstanding individuals who have contributed to Kogi’s progress, including the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, whom he described as a committed and visionary leader.
Ododo disclosed that the Ministry of Works has completed an assessment of the Takete-Ide–Amuro–Ayede Amuro Road, and that major construction work will soon begin. He added that the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) has already been directed to carry out grading and apply laterite to make the road temporarily motorable pending full reconstruction.
On education and healthcare, the governor announced that the remodelling of the Government Day Secondary School and the GYB Health Centre in the community is ongoing, with the approval of new furniture for the school to improve the learning environment.
He also emphasized the administration’s commitment to enhancing grassroots security through the recruitment of local hunters and members of the Vigilante Service, ensuring safer communities across the state.
Highlighting other developmental strides in the area, Ododo noted that Takete-Ide has benefited from the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Programme, which has provided empowerment opportunities for youths and schoolgirls in the community.
Governor Ododo assured the people of continued government support, urging them to remain united, preserve their cultural heritage, and align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms aimed at strengthening subnational development and improving the quality of life for Nigerians.
“My administration will continue to prioritize projects that directly impact rural communities like Takete-Ide, as development must reach every corner of Kogi State,” Ododo stated.
The celebration, which attracted dignitaries and indigenes from within and outside the state, showcased the community’s rich cultural heritage and reaffirmed its resolve toward partnership with the state government for sustainable growth.
