Gov Ortom signs 2021 appropriation bill into law

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has signed the 2021 appropriation bill of N134 billion into law, stating that the speedy passage of the 2021 budget and 2020 supplementary bill marks another milestone in the history of the state.    

Performing the ceremony at the government house Makurdi, Ortom pointed out that the recurrent  expenditure is to gulf N91.5 billion, while the sum of N42.7 billion is for capital expenditure.    The Governor applauded members of the 9th assembly over the quick passage of the aforementioned budget and sued for its sustenance. He acknowledged the support extended to him by members of the legislature since assumption of office.   

Ortom commended the people of the state who stood by him amisd treats during the enactment of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of 2017.   

The Governor who said it pays to do the right thing, expressed worry over escalating security treats posed by marauding herders. He however expressed joy over acceptance of the law by those who initially opposed to it. 

The Speaker of the house, Hon Titus Uba while presenting copies of the appropriation bill to the Governor for assent, averred that the accererated passage of the 2021 budget was borned out of the desire to beat the past record.
