Gov Sule Aide, 2 Policemen, 14 others Arrested for Criminal Conspiracy

The Nasarawa state police Command says it has arrested the Senior special Adviser of governor Abdullahi Sule on infrastructure Yusuf Abubakar Musa AKA Yusuf Mada, a police inspector, a sergeant and one NSCDC officer over alleged involvement in criminal Conspiracy, Sabotage and vandalization of railway tracks and slippers in the state.

The is was disclosed in a press briefing by the commissioner of police CP Bola Longe while parading the suspects at the police headquarters in lafia, Thursday, saying it is very unfortunate that a government functionary that is expected to give advise to the government is found in the forefront of Vandalism in the state.

The commissioner also stressed that as a result of information at the disposal of the Nasarawa State Police Command from multiple sources, indicated that, criminal elements have turned the Nigerian railway tracks that traverse some major cities and villages in Nasarawa State en route to Benue state to gold mines where they vandalise and cart away rail tracks/slippers”

He further said the State Police command developed a strategic anti-vandalism template to arrest the tide of then unwholesome scenario, adding that on the 16/5/2021 at about 0130hrs and 24/5/2021 at about 0300hrs respectively police operatives swooped on the vandals at their theatre of operation while vandalising and carting away railway tracks/slippers along Agyaragu Tofa in Lafia LGA and Angwan Alago of Kadarko district in Keana LGA.

Daybreak news gathered that the following suspects were arrested and paraded which includes a senior special adviser to the governor of Nasarawa state Yusuf Abubakar Mada who was recently promoted from assistant special adviser to senior special adviser.

It was also revealed that a personnel of the Nigerian Legion Samuel Asoloko, a serving Inspr. Of the Nigerian Police, Richard Joseph attached to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia , Sgt. Mali Peter attached to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia a former supervisory councilor on Education Nasarawa Eggon LGA and a chines National and manager of Yong Xing Steel Company Tunga Maje, FCT Abuja Mr. Marra Thai amongst others were also arrested.

Exhibits recovered was One Falker Mercedes Benz Truck with registration number LFA 636 ZX loaded with vandalised rail tracks/slippers One DAF with registration number T-1726 LA trailer loaded with vandalised rail tracks/slippers.

Sum of one hundred and sixty thousand naira (N160,000) offered as bribe to secure the release of the vehicle
Two white Peugeot J5 buses – one of which is ladened with vandalised rail tracks with registration number XU 790 ENU ENUGU and QAP 654 XA respectively.

Speaking with the SSA, Yusuf Abubakar Musa who admitted to the allegation but claimed to have bought and sold the items without seeing it.

“I have an agent who contacted me and said there is business and I ask him to do the business on my behalves, I bought the items he transported it to jos and sold it for 3.6 million Naira which I was giving #800 thousand and my balance was not giving to me”

Asked if he has been doing the business before, the SSA admitted and said “he has stopped the business since last year, saying he is a government official and also a business man who owns a merchandise that he didn’t know it was rail way tracks and slippers that he was buying.”

Asked if the agent that connected him to the business could speak to our reporter but he said he had an accident and died sometimes this year.

Speaking with the Chines National, Mr. marri who also admitted of buying railway Tracks and Slippers from vandals but said he didn’t know of it been vandalized.

“They arrested me because of railway tracks and slippers which they brought to my office’ he said.

The police Boss appreciate the State government, the traditional institution and the peace loving and law abiding citizens of the state for their enormous support and firm belief in collective security.

Their collaboration is really working and assisting the Police in the state to discharge its constitutional mandate efficiently.

He therefore urge members of the public to sustain the trend and always count the police to give all and sundry the much desired security, while also reassuring the people that, he will not be complacent or rest on the oars as we trudge forward to neutralize operations of these societal outlaws.
