GOV YARI MOURNS FORMER PRESIDENT SHEHU SHAGARI

Governor Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara state has expressed condolence to the family and the nation over the death of the former president, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari last Friday.

The departed president, according to Yari, deserves the highest level of reverence and respect as the first democratically elected executive president of this country after independence.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser Media and communication Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, noted that his immense contribution to the unity and national development will remain indelible in the annals of the Nigeria’s history.

Gov Yari said the former President who devoted his entire life to serving his people, Nigeria and Africa, would have his name written in gold not only in the history of this nation, but for Africa and the whole world.

The departed gentleman would best be ever remembered for “the wonderful services he rendered in the development of democracy, peace and security, as well as the development of an excellent foreign policy that ushered into a harmonious community of nations” said the governor.

Yari said that in addition, Shagari would also be remembered for his foresight, devotion to serving his religion and humanity, as well as African politics, democracy and freedom particularly in zimbabwe and South Africa.

Governor Yari maintained that Alhaji Shehu Shagari as a statesman would not soon be forgotten as a father of Zamfara State through his advice and prayers for the development of the state.
