Governor Yusuf Unveils Fresh Appointments, Revives Kano Line to Enhance Public Service

In a strategic move to strengthen governance and improve service delivery, His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved a series of key appointments and reassignments across various sectors.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. According to the statement, these appointments reflect the administration’s commitment to placing highly skilled professionals in critical positions to drive development, improve financial management, and ensure efficient public service.

Key Appointments and Reassignments

1. Jamila Magaji Abdullahi – Accountant General of Kano State

A seasoned accountant and tax administrator with over 16 years of experience, Jamila Magaji Abdullahi brings expertise in financial compliance, budgeting, and risk management.

  • Holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy and a Master’s in Treasury Management from Bayero University, Kano.
  • Previously served at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Kano State Ministry of Finance.
  • Most recently held the position of Director of Treasury at the Kano State Ministry of Finance.

Her appointment reinforces the administration’s focus on transparency and accountability in public finance.

2. Muhammad Yahaya Liman – Director of Treasury

A finance expert and banker with over 16 years of industry experience, Muhammad Yahaya Liman has a strong background in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.

  • Holds a B.Sc. in Accounting, an MBA in Finance and Investment, and a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management from Bayero University, Kano.
  • His leadership in managing high-performing teams and implementing robust internal controls is expected to enhance Kano State’s treasury operations and financial stability.

3. Akibu Isa Murtala – Special Adviser on Administration, Governor’s Office

Promoted from his role as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Akibu Isa Murtala has played a key role in administrative coordination.

  • His elevation to Special Adviser on Administration reflects his dedication and effectiveness in ensuring smooth governance operations.

4. Engr. Abubakar Sadiq – Deputy Managing Director, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA)

Previously serving as Deputy Managing Director of Kano Line, Engr. Abubakar Sadiq has been reassigned to RUWASA to focus on improving rural water supply and sanitation.

  • This move aligns with the administration’s efforts to enhance infrastructure and the quality of life in rural communities.

Revival of Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line)

In a major step toward revitalizing public transportation, Governor Yusuf has set up a strategic committee to oversee the revival of the Kano State Transport Authority, commonly known as Kano Line.

Chaired by Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, the committee has been tasked with reviewing and managing Kano Line’s operations over the next six months to ensure its efficiency, sustainability, and alignment with state development goals.

Governor Yusuf’s Charge to Appointees
