Gunmen Abduct Another Plateau monarch

Gunmen have kidnapped Gyang Balak, the Da Gwom Rwei of Vwang district in Jos-south LGA of Plateau state.

Balak was reportedly abducted while driving home on Sunday night.

He was said to have been kidnapped a few metres before the main gate of the National Institute For Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru in Jos.

Ishaku Takwa, media officer of operation safe haven (OPSH), confirmed the abduction.

Takwa said the chief was kidnapped on his way to Vom area of the state.

He said troops of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies have launched a manhunt for the criminals.

“Troops of OPSH conjunction with other security agencies are on trail of the kidnappers,” he said.

“God’s willing, the security agencies will soon close-up on the criminals.”

The incident comes a few weeks after the abduction of Charles Mato, the Sum Pyem of Gindiri in Mangu LGA of the state.

Mato was abducted from his residence in Gindiri.

His abductors had demanded N500 million ransom for his release after making contact with his family.

He was released after five days in captivity.
