Gunmen Kill Three Church Worshippers in Riyom LGA of Plateau

By Israel Adamu, Jos

At least three persons have been killed and several others injured in a fresh attack by suspected gunmen in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Two of the victims, identified as Christian worshippers, were reportedly ambushed and shot dead shortly after a church service while on an evangelism outreach in one of the communities in the area.

The National President of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, Solomon Dalyop, who decried the persistent insecurity in the region, confirmed the incident to journalists on Monday.

Dalyop, who strongly condemned the attack, said the gunmen opened fire on the victims for a prolonged period before operatives of the Military Task Force and local vigilante groups arrived at the scene.

He called on security agencies to take urgent and decisive action to protect the people of Riyom from further attacks.
