*By Joyce Remi-Babayeju*

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the welfare of residents on pilgrimage.

The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, made this pledge when she received a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the Administration from the Muslim Welfare Board team leader.

The award recognizes the mutual relationship between the FCT Hajj Board and the Saudi-based Hajj managers’ commitment and excellent performance.

Dr. Mahmoud expressed her happiness over the performance of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board during the exercise and its recognition by the Muassasa in charge of pilgrims from non-Arab speaking countries.

She said the honor would encourage the Administration to do more in supporting religious activities in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.

She stated that the FCT Administration, under the leadership of Barr. Nyesom Wike and herself, has been executing projects since assuming office for the betterment of a befitting Capital Territory.

Presenting the plaque to the minister, the Director of the Board, Abubakar Adamu Evuti, said the award was received in Saudi Arabia at a special stakeholders’ 2024 Hajj gathering organized by the Tawafah Company for Pilgrims of African Non-Arab Countries, popularly known as Muassasa.

He described the award as an exciting development in the FCT Hajj administration.

Meanwhile, about 3,000 pilgrims who participated in the 2024 Hajj have since returned home after the exercise.
