Hilton Hotel owner sentenced to death for OAU student’s murder

The owner of Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, Dr. Rahman Adedoyin, has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo. This verdict comes in response to the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University.

Justice Ojo, in her judgment, found Adedoyin and two of his employees guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and the unlawful killing of Adegoke. The decision was made based on the evidence presented by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN.

Adegoke had checked into Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Ile-Ife on November 5, 2021, after arriving from Abuja. He intended to be present early for an examination at the OAU Distance Learning Centre in Moro, Osun State, scheduled for November 6 and November 7, 2021.

However, Adegoke went missing, and a subsequent police investigation led to the discovery of his body buried in a grave. The investigation focused on the hotel owner, Dr. Rahman Adedoyin, and his staff, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects.
