Hold Gombe Gov responsible for any crisis in Tangale Chiefdom -TCO tells NSA

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Tangale Community Overseas (TCO), said the National Security Adviser (NSA) Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, and all concerned bodies in Nigeria should hold Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state responsible for any eruption of crisis in Tangale land in relation to the implementation of decisions taken in respect of meeting held in Tangale chiefdom or anything related to the Mai Tangle saga.

TCO also said it has drawn the attention of Gombe State Commissioner of Police and the Gombe State Director of the State Security Service (SSS) to take note.

This was contained in an open letter to Ma Lele and Tangle sons and daughters in Gombe state by the TCO on recent developments in Tangale community, The letter was signed by Lamela Umaru Lakorok, General Secretary Andele Yerima Tadi, Chairman, Think Tank Committee. Excerpts of the letter reads:

“By this, we also place on notice the National Security Adviser (NSA) Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, and all concerned bodies in Nigeria that whatever crisis happens in Tangale land related to the implementation of decisions taken at this meeting, or anything related to Mai Tangle saga, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state should be held responsible.

“We remind everyone that the Tangale stool is still vacant, pending the announcement (by Gov. Yahaya, or the Courts) of the 16th Mai Tangale, Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamaba, who was selected by the Tangale kingmakers as our paramount traditional ruler. We are not distracted by noisemakers, nor by their schemes to append illegality in Tangale land.

“Governor Yahaya has clearly stated that he will not take development to Tangale land, we recognize that, we therefore do not expect him to cause a crisis.

“We are proud to say that the Tangale people are not sycophants, therefore Governor Yahaya should conduct a thorough background check on the people who attended the said meeting, including the host, whether they carry Tangale blood in them.

“We commend the true Tangale elders and individuals who shunned the invitation to the meeting – we are proud of you for not compromising your position. We know you by name, and we are certain history will not forget you.

“We also commend all Tangale sons and daughters at home for your resilience and steadfastness in shunning the stooge planted in the Tangale palace. He has already known his position that he is not the ruler of the Tangale people – he knows that Governor Yahaya cannot make him one.

“We remind every Tangale son and daughter to be more resilient and patient, as the countdown for the term of Governor Yahaya in office has already started – he will soon be gone. What awaits him soon after his tenure is an investigation for corruption. We will take him before the anti-corruption agencies to explain how he spent the financial allocations of Billiri LGA”, it stated.

Earlier, the TCO stated that it has not issued any statement or written an open letter addressed to Tangale, In recent times, but assured them their involvement in things happening at home and have interacted with many of them on developmental activities.

“On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, some unpatriotic and greedy individuals of Tangale extraction in connivance with some settlers in the land converged on Poshiya, the stool of Tangale chiefdom, and held a meeting with the stooge installed by Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

“Pictures and videos of those in attendance and their speeches, which circulated widely on social media clearly displayed the faces of sycophants. The TCO is not surprised because everyone in Tangale land knows that these people have sold their souls because of their stomachs.

“From the speech of Governor Yahaya’s stooge, it is clear the Governor was aware of their meeting and is expecting them to soon pay him a courtesy visit to Gombe. We learnt that they are set to meet again on June 2, 2024 to finalize on the said visit to Gov Yahaya.

“The last meeting generated tension in Tangale land. From what is on the ground, we are certain, any step in undertaking this visit will lead to a crisis in Tangale land. We therefore draw the attention of the Gombe State Commissioner of Police and the Gombe State Director of the State Security Service (SSS) to take note and put a stop to this unholy visit”, it added.
