How to Apply for the Nigerian Army 89th Regular Recruits Intake

The Nigerian Army has commenced applications for the 89th Regular Recruits Intake for trades and non-trades men and women. Eligible Nigerians are invited to apply for an opportunity to serve in the military.

Step-by-Step Application Guide

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Before proceeding with your application, ensure you meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a single Nigerian citizen by birth, possessing a valid National Identity Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN).
  • Must be physically, medically, and psychologically fit.
  • No criminal record.
  • Must have at least four passes in WASSEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB, including English Language.
  • Tradesmen/women applicants must have a valid trade test certificate.
  • Must provide a birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission, hospital, or local government.
  • Age requirements:
    • 18-22 years for non-tradesmen/women.
    • 18-26 years for tradesmen/women.
  • Minimum height requirement:
    • 1.68m for males.
    • 1.65m for females.
  • Must possess a valid state of origin certificate.

Step 2: Visit the Official Recruitment Portal

The Nigerian Army has emphasized that the application process is entirely free and should only be completed through the official website: https://recruitment.army.mil.ng

Step 3: Register and Complete the Application

  1. Create an account using your email and password.
  2. Log in to access the application form.
  3. Enter your personal and educational details accurately.
  4. Upload the required documents, including certificates, birth certificate, and state of origin certificate.
  5. Carefully review your application before submission.

Step 4: Print Application and Guarantor’s Form

After submission:

  • Print a copy of your application form.
  • Download and print the Guarantor’s Form, which must be completed and signed by reputable individuals.

Step 5: Wait for Shortlisting and Screening Preparation

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a screening exercise in their respective states from June 2 to June 19, 2025.

  • No pre-selection computer-based test will be conducted.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will proceed to physical screening.

Step 6: Attend the Screening Exercise

If shortlisted, report to your designated screening center with:

  • Printed application form and Guarantor’s Form.
  • Original copies of all credentials (NIN, BVN, school certificates, etc.).
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs.
  • A valid means of identification.

The Nigerian Army reiterates that recruitment is FREE and warns against making payments to individuals claiming to facilitate the process.
