INEC increases voting time in some states

Barr. Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman Voter Education and Publicity Committee, while briefing the press few minutes ago, said challenges were encountered in some states, therefore, polls could not commence by 8am as earlier scheduled

He stated that in some states like Ekiti, Edo, FCT, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Ogun, Ogun, Osun and Taraba 95 percent success were recorded while by 12 noon, while in states like Adamawa, Yobe, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Sokoto, Zamfara and few others, the level of success recorded by 12 noon was low.

As a result of these challenges, the Commission has decided to extend the election in affected states with the number of hours lost.

Consequently, INEC has decided to increase the period of voting in some states beyond the scheduled 2pm.
