The National President of Egume Ome Descendants’ Union, (EODU), Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Ibrahim on Thursday called for a strong collaboration between traditional rulers and security operatives to curb the rising cases of violent extremism in the society.

Alhaji Ibrahim who made the call in his Sallah message to the people noted that if nothing urgent is done to get to the root of sponsors of these series of criminality, Nigeria would be a nightmare to citizenry.

“With the security consciousness of our people, we remain strong and resolute in defence of freedom, unity and progress of our community and Kogi state at large”.

He therefore called on the people of Egume and its environs to remain unwaveringly committed by sustaining their solidarity for the Vigilante group and security agents and give them the full support they require to prosecute the war against terrorism to a successful conclusion.

“We will not be deterred from our goal of positively transforming our community into a strong, united, stable and prosperous society in which all citizens will live in peace in spite of our security challenges.”

The President prayed for Almighty Allah to bless the good people of Egume community, both at home and in diaspora for their moral and financial contributions towards the upliftment of their fatherland.

“As we celebrate Eid-El-Fitri, I pray that the Ramadan’s spiritual lessons and the Holy Prophet’s teachings of love, justice, fairness, tolerance, honesty and peaceful co-existence with others would remain greenish in our daily endeavours.”

He was optimistic that the lessons and blessings of the Holy Month would also influence attitudes towards our fellow countrymen and women, irrespective of their religion or places of origin, and even promote greater commitment to the peace, unity and stability of the society.

“I wish you all happy and peaceful Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.”
