The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike today called for an emergency meeting with Security Chiefs and  Area Council Chairmen where he charged them to wake up to tackling security challenges in the territory.
Wike also said that his administration is not sleeping over the recent security challenges in various parts of the territory.
He said, “We are all aware of the security situation in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly Bwari and some other areas that we have witnessed security challenges.”
The minister also assured Nigerians  residing in the FCT not to panic, adding,” We are taking every step to make sure that those challenges are things that we must have to resolve.”
“So this meeting is practically to look into such challenges and see how we will be able to resolve the problems and that is why we invited all the Council Chairmen because, they also have a responsibility in their various Area Councils.
Speaking further, the minister explained that there is a collective effort to come up with solutions.
“This is just for you to know that we are not sleeping, security also are not sleeping. We will require every support that they require in order to take away the fears of the citizens or residents.”
Wike however warned Area Council Chairmen against leaving their responsibilities and travel out.
“We have gotten reports that Council Chairmen travel anytime and then, if anything happens, they will not call anybody’s name except the FCT Minister.”
So for your information, we are doing everything we can to resolve the security challenges we are recently facing, the minister assured.
Meanwhile, the minister noted that the recent NUT strike is not the fault of the Administration but that of the Area Councils, adding that.
He noted although Primary Schools are under Area Councils, part of the Administration’s meeting is to see how to resolve the problem.
