Intensify Surveillance At RUGA Settlements-Group

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano.

The Nigerian security agencies should intensifies more surveillance at all the herdsmen settlements popularly known as RUGA in order to fish out undesirable elements among the settlers especially at present when the issue of insecurity is taking another dimension.

The call was made by the chairman, National Progress Group(NPG) Malam Barde Adamu in a chat with our correspondent in Kano where the group lamented that ” there is the need for our security agencies to monitor and observes what is happening at herders settlements across the northern parts of the country in order to sieve bad eggs amongst them”. He stressed.

Malamai Barde added that the present security situation in Nigeria is getting worse almost everyday, therefore it is vital to intensify surveillance surveys at such RUGA’s so that all bad eggs should be cleared because it is paining to state that every crime committed is referred to herdsmen which is a slap to the tribe.

The group finally commended the federal government, the security agencies, voluntary security associations like Vigilante group of Nigeria and other well meaning citizens for joining hands in the fight against insecurity in the country, where the chairman announced that they have commenced monitoring some RUGA areas to ascertain what is really happening especially at nights.
