Iyimoga Calls for Peace, Unity During Christmas Celebration

By Abel Zwànke, Lafia

As the people of Nasarawa State join Christians worldwide to celebrate Christmas, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who also serves as the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Muhammad Iyimoga Eyigye, has urged citizens to embrace peace and unity during the festive season.

In a goodwill message to the people of the state on Tuesday, Hon. Iyimoga emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among various ethnic and religious groups, highlighting that unity is the foundation of progress and development. He encouraged citizens to use the occasion to reflect on the core values of love, forgiveness, and selflessness, which are central to the Christmas celebration.

“Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, whose life exemplifies peace, love, and humility,” Iyimoga stated. “I urge the good people of Nasarawa State to embrace these virtues and live in harmony with one another. Let us set aside our differences and work together for the greater good of our state.”

The commissioner also called on residents to support the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule, which he described as dedicated to promoting unity and driving sustainable development across the state.

“Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration has shown a strong commitment to the well-being of all citizens through its inclusive policies and developmental projects,” Iyimoga said. “I urge everyone to rally behind the governor and contribute positively to the progress of our beloved state.”

Hon. Iyimoga further stressed the importance of security and vigilance during the holiday season, encouraging community leaders to collaborate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful celebration.

“As we celebrate, let us remain security-conscious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Our collective effort is vital to maintaining the peace and stability we all desire,” he added.

The commissioner concluded his message by wishing the people of Nasarawa State a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

“May this festive season bring joy, peace, and abundant blessings to every household. Let us step into the new year with renewed hope and determination to build a brighter future for Nasarawa State,” Iyimoga said.
