JUST IN: President Tinubu Vows Justice for Slain Ekiti Monarchs

President Bola Tinubu strongly denounced the killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, namely the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, David Ogunsola. The monarchs were attacked while returning from a security meeting in Irele-Ekiti.

The assailants struck when the traditional rulers were in a vehicle driven by the Alara of Ikole Ekiti, Adebayo Fatoba. The attackers attempted to kidnap the rulers, resulting in the tragic death of two of them, while Fatoba managed to escape.

Ajoni Local Council Development Area Chairman, Michael Ogungbemi, confirmed the incident, detailing that the ambush occurred in the “Ayo Shock” area between Ipao and Oke Ako.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, titled ‘President Tinubu condemns killing of traditional rulers in Ekiti, directs immediate rescue of kidnapped pupils,’ Tinubu expressed deep condolences to the families, subjects, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and the people of Ekiti State, describing the incident as a “deeply agonising development.”

Tinubu assured that those responsible for the “mindless and brutal bloodletting” would not escape justice. The President called for immediate efforts to rescue any kidnapped individuals, emphasizing the need for swift and effective action in the face of this tragic event.
