Justice Shield Secures Landmark Convictions for Sexual Exploitation in Kano

Justice Shield, a flagship project of the Lift Africa Foundation, has made significant strides in protecting vulnerable populations by securing four major convictions for sexual exploitation of minors in Kano.

These legal victories underscore the organization’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice for survivors and holding perpetrators accountable.

Conviction Summaries

  1. Case No: FHC/KN/CS/171/2024FRN v. Ifeanyi Edokwe
    • A 43-year-old male, residing at No. 57 Freetown, Sabon Gari, Fagge LGA, Kano State, was convicted for attempting to procure and exploit a 13-year-old girl.
    • Sentence: Two (2) years imprisonment and a fine of ₦500,000.
    • Offense: Violation of Section 285 of the Penal Code Law, applicable in Kano State.
    • Judgment Date: November 27, 2024.
    • Presiding Judge: Hon. Justice M.N. Yunusa.
  2. Case No: FHC/KN/CR/264/2024FRN v. Musbahu Muhamud
    • A 40-year-old man from Layin Gidan Sarki Zango, Ajingi LGA, Kano State, was found guilty of procuring and sexually exploiting a 10-year-old girl.
    • Sentence: Seven (7) years imprisonment without an option of a fine.
    • Offense: Punishable under Section 283 of the Penal Code Law.
    • Judgment Date: November 12, 2024.

  3. Case No: FHC/KN/CR/266/2024FRN v. Ahamad Sani

    • Sentence: Seven (7) years imprisonment without an option of a fine.
    • Offense: Violation of Section 283 of the Penal Code Law.

  4. Case No: FHC/KN/CR/270/2024FRN v. Murtala Adamu
    • A 26-year-old man from Unguwa Uku, Tarauni LGA, Kano State, was convicted for procuring and sexually exploiting a 13-year-old girl.
    • Sentence: Seven (7) years imprisonment without an option of a fine.
    • Offense: Punishable under Section 283 of the Penal Code Law.
    • Judgment Date: November 12, 2024.
