Kaduna Group Backs Governor Uba Sani, Criticizes El-Rufai Over Comments

Must read

The Kaduna Advocate of Good Governance has reaffirmed its support for Governor Uba Sani while criticizing former Governor Nasir El-Rufai over his recent social media remarks.

At a press conference in Kaduna, the group dismissed claims that Governor Sani’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s administration was mere sycophancy. Instead, they described it as a strategic move aimed at securing benefits for Kaduna State.

The group’s coordinator, Aliyu Ibrahim, went further to call on anti-corruption agencies** to investigate the financial management of the state under El-Rufai’s administration, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.

“If El-Rufai claims loyalty to the ruling APC but opposes Governor Uba Sani’s support for the Tinubu administration, he should clarify his political stance rather than question the governor’s leadership,” Ibrahim stated.

The group also praised Governor Sani for successfully securing a ₦150 billion federal reimbursement for Kaduna State, hailing it as a major achievement that showcases his leadership and negotiation skills.

> “Governor Uba Sani deserves commendation, not criticism. This reimbursement is a significant win for Kaduna State and demonstrates his dedication to the people’s welfare,” Ibrahim added.

The statement was in response to El-Rufai’s remarks on X (formerly Twitter), where he appeared to question Governor Sani’s political decisions.

The group further expressed concerns over what they see as an attempt by El-Rufai to maintain control over his successor, warning that such interference undermines democratic principles.

“When a former governor continues to exert influence over his successor’s administration, it raises serious concerns about democracy and governance,” Ibrahim noted.
