Kaduna Bandits Update: Mother, 1yr-old baby among those kidnapped

The fear of bandits has taken a tolls on both residents and business men especially those located mostly within community in Kaduna state.

The situation grew worse following the peculiarity and consistent in the recent bandits operations which allegedly led to also abduction of a nursing mother with less than one year old baby in the Auta communities attacked in Gonin Gora, on Thursday.

Business premises and prosperous wholesalers and retailers are folding up within the community centres also for fear of bandits informants, while others are operating under tight security consciousness, in and out of towns.
According to Gonin Gora sources, elder victor Anawo, there was intelligent report which made the vigilantes in the affected Auta community and environment to alert themselves and took position against the bandits attack.

The source said that two military vehicles also strategically positions were set ablaze by the bandits when the occupants officers went out for operation in a different direction away from spots with only few officers behind.

Investigation into the Gonin Gora kidnapped incident revealed that a nursing mother who was kidnapped along with her baby returned to the area in their own personal house they left two years ago due the rampant cases of bandits activities in the area.

A neighbourhood, according to a resident source who gave his name as Mr. Anawo, confirmed that the victim Nursing mother returned to the house built by her husband not too long before the invasion and her abduction.

Kidnapping within the outskirts of the communities and Kaduna community entirely, according to information is not only on the increase but alarming as about 70 percent of the incidents are no longer reported to security.

Just few day after the bandits attack, killing, kidnapping and protest in Gonin Gora area of Kaduna community, security alert was released on “Safety of the Lord”, by some Christian faithful urging members in the outskirts of Kaduna to relocate into the community centers.

The safety alert statement read in parts: “Inform brethren living at the fringes/outskirts of Kaduna town to relocate into the heart of their communities, where it’s not feasible, they should rent a “sleeping house” in the heart of the community for the family to go and sleep at night.

“High risk areas for above includes: Mararaban Rido, Millennium city, Juji, Eastern byepass, Goni Gora, Kudenda, Mando and Rigachukun.

“The bandit onslaught in Goni-Gora on Wednesday night/Thursday morning left two vigilante members dead and a military vehicle burnt with an unknown number of people kidnapped. This is the third attack between November and February.

“The killing of Boderi ( a bandit leader) is expected to infuriate his boys and they will go rampage.
The above is not meant to create fear, but to guide brethren on situational awareness”, it stated.

Police is yet to issue any known official report about the bandits attacked and killing of 2 vigilante and abduction of several others yet to be identified.
