Kaduna Erupts in Fury as ‘Pure Water’ Price Soars, Sparks Fears of Widespread Inflation!

As uproar and outcry over the increase in price of sachet water popularly know as “Pure Water” continue to raised surprises among the ranks and files of the strata of the society, reports from grapevine had it that soft drinks such as Pepsi cola and its competitors are also warming up to shut up cost of products as well.

Residents of Kaduna state wake-up in the first day of November 2023 with amazing news of increased of price of pure water, one of the least expensive products in Kaduna state for over a decades now.

According to the many residents interviewed, the cost a sachet pure water has been increased by 100% from the usual N10,00 to N20,00 while a bags of it now cost between N160. 00- N180. 00, in most places, and gradually going out of the reach of the common men.
Our correspondent who went round the communities in parts of Kaduna South confirmed the allegations, attributing the increase to the recent hike in prices of fuel otherwise known as PMS.

Some of the pure water company operators who spoke to our reporter in confidence attributed the increase to the high cost of fuel, diesel, which is the main source their means of transportation, as well as other materials used for the pure water production.

As at last count, the cost of a sachet pure water increased from N5.00 to N10.00 in Kaduna state, in a decades ago, which cannot be remembered anymore because its very rare to increase its price.

Consumers have already expressed fears that the hike may be extended to the increase in other table waters (Bottle waters) such as SWAN water, amongst others, sooner than later.

At the time of filing this report, it was difficult to reach out the mistrials product company owners due to protocol, findings revealed that Pepsi cola bottles have gone so scarce, fearing that there maybe increased for withdrawing products from circulation.
