Kaduna Has Zero Tolerance for Conflict Merchants, Says Governor Uba Sani

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has warned that his administration will not tolerate actions capable of disrupting peace and security in the state, describing Kaduna as a diverse and sensitive polity.

The governor spoke on Monday while hosting heads of security agencies for Iftar, the Ramadan breaking of fast, in Kaduna. He said while his administration welcomes constructive criticism from opposition parties, it will not condone the spread of false information capable of inciting unrest.

“Freedom of speech is not a licence to spread fake news that could lead to the loss of lives and property,” Sani said. He added that anyone seeking to destabilise the state under the guise of politics would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Sani noted that Kaduna is home to people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds and pledged that his government would continue to preserve peaceful coexistence.

He informed security chiefs that political activities would intensify as party primaries approach, in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He urged security agencies to remain vigilant and strengthen collaboration with local government chairmen, traditional rulers and religious leaders to enhance intelligence gathering.

The governor commended security agencies for their cooperation and stated that the state has not recorded any ethno-religious crisis since he assumed office. He added that efforts would continue to address banditry and kidnapping.
