A returning officer in Jaba local government area of Kaduna state has reportedly absconded with the original results sheets during collation before the end of elections during the Saturday Council polls in the area.

The abscondement reportedly occurred when collation of elections results for Jaba Local Government Council elections was in progress on Saturday in the area.

The member representing Jaba Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon Samson Monday Dikko who confirmed the incident to journalsts, identified the returning officer as Professor Kamai Bello.

He identified Prof. Kamal Bello who allegedly absconded with the original result sheet of the Local Government while the Returning officer of Nok 2, Mr. Dauglas Sabo absconded with the 3 original sheets of Nok, Chori and Daddu Ward.

The lawmaker said all effort to reach the Returning officer of Nok Ward who allegedly absconded with the 3 results sheets proved abortive.

“The results of the 10 Wards that make up Jaba have not yet been collated, compile for announcement”, he said.

According to him the Returning officers of Daddu and Chori wards confirmed that they gave one Mr. Douglas Sabo the Results sheets which he absconded with, adding, “All the electorates are presently at the SIECOM office in Jaba waiting for the newly assigned Local Government Returning Officer.

Meanwhile, when contacted the Public Relations Officer of the State Independent Electoral Commission said the result for Jaba Local Government Area has already been brought to the commission, but that the commission will still have to cross check the result with the one on their server before addressing the media.
