Kaduna Ramps Up Resident Mobilisation for State Identity Card Registration

The Kaduna State Residents Identity Management Agency (KADRIMA) has launched a statewide sensitization campaign to encourage mass participation in the ongoing resident registration and identity card enrollment exercise.

Leading the initiative, KADRIMA Executive Secretary, Dr. John Danfulani, embarked on an advocacy tour across several chiefdoms and emirates in Southern Kaduna. During visits to communities in Kachia, Kaura, Jema’a, Sanga, and Zangon Kataf local government areas, he engaged traditional rulers and community stakeholders on the importance of the program.

Speaking in Kachia on Thursday, Danfulani highlighted that the identity registration aims to establish a comprehensive database of all residents in Kaduna State—regardless of origin—which will support effective planning, improved security, social service delivery, and greater financial inclusion.

“We are appealing to everyone living in Kaduna, whether indigenes or not, to register and update their residential information. This identity card is designed for all residents,” he stated.

He added that the ID card will also function as a financial tool, capable of serving as a debit or credit card, and will grant access to various government services including social welfare programs, health insurance, free education, and scholarships.

Danfulani dismissed claims that the program is politically driven or aimed at revenue generation, stressing that the initiative is entirely focused on improving governance and service delivery.

“This is not about politics or tax collection. It’s a developmental initiative aimed at uplifting the lives of our residents,” he clarified.

He emphasized the role of traditional leaders in ensuring the success of the program and praised their cooperation so far. “With your support, we can ensure this initiative reaches everyone it’s meant to serve,” he said.

In response, traditional rulers in the visited areas expressed appreciation for the government’s grassroots engagement and pledged to support the campaign by mobilizing their communities for full participation.

The identity card registration exercise is ongoing, and residents across Kaduna State are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to register and benefit from the initiative.
