Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo Kanayo, shared insights into his acting approach, particularly when playing roles that involve entering coffins. In an interview with Eastern Eye, he revealed that he doesn’t sanctify himself or bind unseen forces for such roles, emphasizing that God gifted him with talent, and he simply acts out the scenes without the need for purification.
“God gave me a talent. When I’m playing a role in a movie that involves going into a coffin, I do not sanctify myself or start binding unseen forces. I just play my role and get out. #KOKisOK,” he explained.
Kanayo’s statement prompted various reactions, with many applauding him for his professionalism. Some comments ranged from playful jokes about sacrifices to genuine admiration for his approach.
Addressing his money ritual movie roles, Kanayo clarified that he is not involved in any sacrifices, emphasizing his faith in Jesus. He humorously mentioned continuing with “night sacrifices” as long as they contribute to his financial well-being.
In a different context, Kanayo expressed concern about the state of the Nollywood industry, criticizing the influx of Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) enthusiasts, sex workers, Instagram stars, and homosexuality. He specifically called out social media influencers taking over Nollywood, attributing them as the cause of disrespect in the industry, predicting their transient influence.
