Kano Cassava Growers Vows To Boost Production, Commends State Exco.

Cassava farmers in kano state announced that the state would become exemplary in the production, processing and providing marketing atmosphere to the crop across the state in order to restore it’s production as seen in previous years.

They made this known in a series of interviews with Daybreak news when our reporter visited some cassava growing locations at Makoda, Gwarzo, Bichi, Dambatta and Rimin Gado local government areas last Wednesday.

Malam Isa Shantake from Makoda local government area said that” I started cassava growing since in 1980 where i started with planting 2000 stalks of cassava in my farm but as at the time of answering your questions, i grow cassava in 10 farms and i am happy to announce that today i become one of the large scale cassava growers in kano state”. He stated.

He added that nowadays cassava growers have no challenge in terms of marketing because the product is being used as raw materials in the production of over 16 foods recipes including bread and other expensive cakes that are being found in restaurants and other food markets.

Similarly, another cassava farmer from Gwarzo local government area malam Adamu Usaini told Daybreak news that ” we grow cassava that is being sold in many states and we are happy to announce that kano cassava growers are becoming rich from their production as seen for many years”. He concluded.

All those who have a chat with out correspondent commended the kano state cassava growers association leaders for their selfless leadership that promotes the cassava production in the state, and called on them to be in touch with kano state government on the needs to boost cassava production in the state especially at this era of national economic growth through farming.

In his remark, the state secretary of the cassava growers association(NCGA), malam Salisu Umar Chiromawa said that ” we are trying our best to see that cassava production is boosting because our association is working seriously to see that cassava farmers benefited from all the richness that is being derived from cassava growing in Kano state”. He added.

The secretary further lamented that kano farmers were assisted with fertilizer and loans in order to boost cassava production and to contribute their qouta in the economic growth of the state and the nation in general, where he disclosed that they are getting ready to meet with the state government through the ministry of agriculture for establishing more cassava growing strategies that would makes kano greater in cassava production.
