The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, has called on Christians and all Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and unity as they celebrate the 2025 Christmas season.Falgore made the call in his Kano Speaker Christmas message released on Thursday through his spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, stressing that peace and mutual respect remain essential for national development and stability.He congratulated Christian faithful on the celebration of Christmas, describing the season as a period that promotes love, sacrifice, compassion, and togetherness among people of different backgrounds.
According to him, Christmas offers an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on shared values that bind the nation together, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.The Speaker urged Christians to continue to live in harmony with their neighbours and to uphold the virtues of tolerance and understanding in their daily interactions.He emphasized that peaceful coexistence is not only a moral responsibility but also a critical factor for sustainable development and effective nation-building.
Speaking on the activities of the Kano State House of Assembly, Falgore noted that the 10th Assembly remains committed to delivering people-oriented legislation aimed at improving the living standards of residents across the state.He said members of the Assembly have continued to demonstrate resilience and dedication in carrying out their legislative responsibilities despite prevailing social and economic challenges.
Falgore pointed to what he described as clear signs of more robust and inclusive lawmaking under the current Assembly, noting that legislative efforts are focused on long-term development outcomes.“ I am convinced that the Kano State House of Assembly under my leadership is doing everything possible to deliver quality legislation, irrespective of tribe or religion, to promote sustainable growth, job creation, and shared prosperity,” he stated.
The Speaker reaffirmed the Assembly’s unwavering support for the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, whom he said remains committed to providing a conducive environment for all residents. He noted that the administration’s policies are designed to ensure fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunities for citizens regardless of their religious affiliation, ethnic background, or social status.
Falgore stressed that collaboration between the legislature and the executive is vital for effective governance and the successful implementation of development programmes across the state. He urged political leaders, community stakeholders, and citizens to continue to promote dialogue and understanding as tools for resolving differences and strengthening social cohesion.The Speaker also called on Nigerians to use the Christmas season to renew their commitment to peace, unity, and collective responsibility toward national progress.
On behalf of the Kano State House of Assembly, Falgore wished Christians a joyful Christmas celebration and prayed for enduring peace, progress, and prosperity in Kano State and Nigeria at large. He expressed optimism that with sustained tolerance and cooperation among citizens, the country can overcome its challenges and build a more inclusive and harmonious society.
