Kate Henshaw Responds to Criticism Over Contributions to Nigeria

Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw has fired back at a critic who urged her to “do more” for Nigeria. She made it clear she has no intention of justifying her contributions. The exchange took place on X (formerly Twitter) after the October 1 Independence Day celebrations.

The critic commented, “Kate, your attitude is really beautiful, but we all must do more to bring relief to a battered country. The giant of Africa is rich in resources, but its citizens are the poorest, striving to survive amid hardship. We need to collectively fight corruption, insecurity, and underdevelopment to heal.”

In response, Henshaw playfully remarked, “Toh. I shouldn’t smile or wear clothes naaaa.” This comment confused many of her followers. She then addressed the critic directly, saying, “Your compliment about my attire and the rest of your comment makes me wonder if you think I am the problem. I have no desire to prove what my contributions are. You have ‘rulers’ whose job description they are yet to carry out. Thanks.”

Henshaw also shared a tweet that echoed her feelings. It read, “Nigerians would rather attack everything else than the root of the problem. If they did, it would solve the problem and leave them without something to complain about. Complaining is our hobby and national pastime. So, Madam Kate, ignore these trolls and keep winning. Nigerians would always be Nigerians.”

This exchange shows the frustration among public figures like Henshaw. They feel the weight of societal expectations while emphasizing that leaders must address pressing national issues.
