Kebbi Government Donates 10 Hilux Trucks to Strengthen Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway

By Jabiru Hassan

The Kebbi State Government has donated 10 new Hilux trucks to enhance security operations along the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, a major infrastructure project currently under construction across several states. The vehicles were handed over on Thursday to the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who received them on behalf of the ministry.Goronyo commended Governor Nasiru Idris for what he described as a timely and strategic intervention. He said the donation demonstrates Kebbi State’s commitment to protecting workers and ensuring smooth operations along the expansive highway corridor.According to the minister, the vehicles will be deployed to security operatives assigned to safeguard construction workers stationed along the stretch of the super highway that passes through the region. He noted that the project’s scale requires constant mobility, rapid response capabilities, and reinforced patrol systems to deter potential security threats.“This contribution by His Excellency, Dr. Nasiru Idris, demonstrates genuine leadership and a deep understanding of the strategic importance of this highway,” Goronyo said. “

Ensuring the safety of our workforce is paramount, and these vehicles will significantly enhance the efficiency of security personnel deployed across the project area.”The Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most transformative road projects. Once completed, it is expected to facilitate trade, open new economic corridors, and strengthen connectivity between northern and southern regions. The ongoing construction has attracted significant movement of workers and heavy machinery, placing increased emphasis on robust security measures.Governor Idris has consistently advocated collaboration among states and federal agencies to reinforce security around major national infrastructure projects. The donation of the Hilux trucks aligns with Kebbi State’s contributions toward supporting national development and safeguarding communities along the corridor.Goronyo expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Government and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to delivering the highway to global standards. He added that the vehicles would be deployed immediately to improve surveillance and operational reach across key construction zones.Stakeholders have widely described the gesture as a proactive step that will boost morale among personnel, enhance emergency response times, and strengthen the overall security framework surrounding the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway.
