Kebbi Governor Swears in Newly Elected Local Government Chairmen

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, swore in the newly elected chairmen of the 21 local governments in the state on Monday.

All of the newly elected chairmen are candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC), who were declared winners in the elections held on Saturday by the state electoral commission.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, and was attended by the governor and other top political figures in the state. The state Chief Judge, Umar Abubakar, administered the oath of office to the newly elected chairmen, who will serve for a term of three years.

In his address, Governor Idris urged the new chairmen to ensure they deliver the benefits of democracy at the grassroots level. He said, “Now that you are sworn in, I want you to start your duties immediately and make sure you have a positive impact on your communities. You should also go back to your localities and swear in your councillors so they can begin their work in all the wards across the state.”

The governor also assured the chairmen of his full support, stating, “I promise to work with all of you 100 per cent.” He encouraged them to engage with their community members to ensure everyone benefits from their leadership.

To support their work, the state government provided Hilux operational vehicles to the newly sworn-in chairmen and their deputies.
