Disturbed by killings and assassination attempts by gunmen in Benue State, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr Kenneth Achabo has implored security agents to intensify surveillance to ensure security of lives and property.

Achabo who made this call on the heels of an assassination attempt on the Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Joseph Atera at his residence during which five persons were reportedly killed by yet to be identified gunmen.

He continued: “In view of the support the Benue State Government is providing to security agencies in the state, it behoves their personnel to intensify surveillance to ensure that the citizens are safe where ever they may be”.

The Special Adviser called on security operatives to fish out the perpetrators of these dastardly acts for prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others who may have the intention to indulge themselves in the said acts.

Achabo described the attack as gross violation of the fundamental human rights and an affront to efforts by Governor Samuel Ortom to secure lives and property of the citizens.

He assured that the Bureau under his watch would continue to render assistance to security agents in the course of their duties for more effective service delivery.

The Special Adviser who extended his heart- felt condolence to the families that lost their loved ones, admonished local government Chairmen to be conscious of security in their various domains. Ends
