KOGI ASSEMBLY APPROVES RECRUITMENT OF 1,050 HUNTERS IN KOGI

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi state House of Assembly on Wednesday in Lokoja approved the  recruitment of 1,050 hunters to enhance the security framework of the state. The Assembly granted the approval during a plenary session held on Wednesday in Lokoja.

The request was made via a letter from the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Ozigi Deedat, who sought permission to recruit 50 hunters for each of the 21 Local Government Areas in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf therefore noted that the lawmakers had previously resolved that due to the security challenges in the state and the shortage of manpower, there was a need for such recruitment.

The legislators unanimously approved the recruitment in a voice vote, stipulating that the salaries of the hunters would be managed by the Caretaker Chairmen of the Local Governments.
