Kogi: Deputy governor, has not dumped APC, says CPS.

By Labaran Tijani, Lokoja.

Contrary to the news being peddled around, Kogi state deputy governor, someone Achuba has not defected from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

According to the statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Friday which was signed by Akor Sylvester, the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, the news of Elder Achuba’s defection is a figment of someone’s imagination.

He said the people behind such rumour were just being mischievous, stressing that it was an attempt to tarnish the image of the present deputy governor which has failed.

“To put the record straight, that report championed by the online media is not true. Considering the implications of such innuendos, we are constrained to categorically state that there is no iota of truth in the story making the rounds”, he said.

The CPS added that “the purported report is therefore nothing but a poorly concocted piece of a malicious hatchet job and a pack of lies, and should be appropriately ignored” ; stressing that “the deputy Governor has not dumped the ruling party, and if there is any reason to do so, it will not be at the backyard”.

He therefore urged journalists to always adhere to the ethics of the profession while doing their job, adding that as part of the code of the profesion for practicing journalists, it’s mandatory for journalists to cross check their facts before going to the press, and if you are in doubt, leave it out.

It could be recalled that a Radio station in Lokoja, as part of its news bulletin on Thursday, said Elder Simeon Achuba, the deputy governor of the state has dumped APC to PDP.
