The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has appointed Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu as the 7th Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Prince Abubakar Audu University. The appointment was announced in a statement issued in Lokoja by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Uredo Omale, and made available to journalists.
According to the statement, the decision recognises Professor Audu’s academic background, leadership experience, and contributions to higher education in Nigeria. Audu has over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and administration. He previously served twice as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Federal University Lokoja, and held roles including Head of Department, Dean of Student Affairs, and Director of General Studies.
He also served as an internal member of the governing council of the university—then known as Kogi State University—during the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Francis Idachaba. In addition, he was a member of the governing council of the Kogi State College of Education (Technical). The university described the appointment as a significant step for the institution, expressing optimism about his leadership in advancing its academic and administrative goals.
