Lagos Government Urges Property Owners to Renovate Building Exteriors

The Lagos State Government has called on property owners to upgrade the appearance of their buildings, particularly those located along major highways, as part of efforts to improve the state’s aesthetics and align with its urban renewal goals.

This appeal was made by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide, in a statement released on Tuesday by the ministry’s Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi.

Olumide emphasized the importance of maintaining visually appealing structures, especially along prominent routes such as Ikorodu Road, Agege Motor Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku Street, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, and Herbert Macaulay Way.

“We implore property owners, especially those on major highways, to undertake the much-needed facelift of their building facades,” the commissioner said. “Doing this supports the government’s efforts to transform Lagos into a 21st-century economy.”

He advised that building owners along key corridors should regularly refresh the appearance of their structures through repainting, façade repairs, and general maintenance.

Olumide added that such efforts are in line with the Greater Lagos vision, which aims to promote a cleaner, more organized, and modern urban environment.
