…. as 5000 PDP, LP members dumped parties for APC
APC is daily becoming widely acceptable daily across Sokoto State as over 5,850 members of PDP and LP from Magajin Gari ‘A’ and ‘B’Wards of Sokoto North Local Government Area of the state have decamped to the the party.
This development came to the fore as over twenty thousand supporters of APC marched the streets to the residence of APC leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in solidarity to the leadership of the party.
Bashar Abubakar in a statement said Leader of the party in the State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, APC Chairman in the State, Hon. Isah Sadiq Achida, alongside many leaders of the party were at hand to welcome the defectors into APC.
Director-General of the campaign in Magajin Gari’B’ward area, Alhaji Aminu Kabiru, stated that, they were always making frantic efforts to ensure that more supports are garnered for the party in the State.
Some of the decampees were former Labour Party aspirant for the seat of State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Haliru Dauda, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Ababa from PDP, Alhaji Naziru Chika Barga, Haruna Idris, Jabir Abubakar, Abubakar Ku’a and Rashida Bello Kofar Kade, among others.
Some defectors explained that they abandoned their former parties to join APC so as to mobilize more support for its victory during the forthcoming polls in the State.
Speaking, one of the leaders of the party in the area, Alhaji Maniru Malami Mai Taki, said the solidarity meeting was to show their support for the leadership of the party and to assure their total readiness towards the victory of the party.
He recalled the giant projects executed in their Ward by the former Governor of the state, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko during his tenure as Governor of the state.
Alhaji Maniru said some of the projects provided included: Construction of road projects at Kofar Kade to Mainiyyo area, construction of Mainiyyo Bypass Road, construction of concrete road from Tsamiyar Dila to bypass road.
He added that in the health sector, the then Wamakko-led administration expanded Mainiyyo and Kofar Kade hospitals with the provision of ambulances.
Alhaji Maniru also, spoke on the other sectors of development provided by the Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko’s government.
He highlighted that, education, social amenities, agriculture, water supply and electricity supply, among others were not left out in their Ward (Area) by the former Governor Wamakko’s regime.
Other leaders of the party in the area who spoke during the rally, were Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, Alhaji Murtala Hauka – Hauka and APC Youth leader in the State, Alhaji Nasiru Italy, who was also one of the organisers of the rally.
They largely focused their speeches on the leadership qualities of the former Governor of the State, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
They explained that, APC has made a wider decision by giving another chance to its 2019 gubernatorial candidate, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto to re-contest the governorship position in the State.
They explained that they have the belief that Ahmad Aliyu will take Sokoto to the promised land, if elected as Governor of the state.
APC leader in the State, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko while welcoming the defectors into the party expressed happiness on the visit by the supporters of the party who marched from their various places to his Gawon Nama residence as part of their readiness to continue supporting the party at all levels.
Sen. Wamakko stressed the need for all eligible voters who did not collect their PVC to do so as it’s only those with PVC can vote during the forthcoming polls.
He explained that, though the party is having a large number of supporters in the State, but there was the need to extensively continue to pray for the victory of the party.
The 20,000-march by the party’s supporters was witnessed by APC chairman in the State Hon. Isah Sadiq Acida, North West Zonal Secretary of the Party, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo and other top party’s officials in the State.
